Russell's Dad

Some of you may remember Russell who posted here a couple of
times about his Dad who was ill with cancer. I offered to speak
to his Mum because she was local to me and Russell is in Canada,
but the meeting never came about. Anyway, I have had an email
today from Russell saying that his father has passed away. I
append the full text of his email below. I have replied sending
my own condolences. Russell's email address, should anyone else
wish to contact him, is "v 6 firebird at rogers . com" - I'm sure
you can all work out what to do to get it to work. Y Bwthyn
Newydd (The New Cottage), by the way, is a specialist palliative
care unit in the Bridgend area of Wales, UK.

Dear Emily
Just to let you know that dad passed peacefully on the 19th at Y
Bwthyn Newydd
I always knew that dad was well liked and that he had done a lot
in the community but I had no Idea how many people would come and
pay their respects
We had the funeral on the Friday and over 300 people came
including the Mayor of Bridgend . Plus we had apologies from over
150 more saying how they couldn't make it but wished us well.
I brought my mum back to Canada with us and now we start to heal
, although I don't think it will sink in for a long time that he
has gone.
Amazingly though we are in good spirits knowing that he is out of
pain and we actually celebrated his life an the funeral and not
mourned his loss
